This is just my personal opinion as to why Jesus came to earth in human form. Christians know how complicated it was to follow all the rules set forth in the Old Testament of the bible, and how hard it was to live up to what a person thought God expected of them.
Before Jesus came down, I can visualize God sitting up in heaven, saying to himself: "These people just don't get it. I need to send my Son down to set an example, serve as a role model, and teach them the basics of worshiping Me."
When you read the New Testament, and follow Jesus around, you will find a man with a very simple philosophy; he does not emphasize that it is absolutely necessary to keep a bunch of rules. Instead, he shows mercy to sinners and teaches the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them to unto you." If everyone followed this one simple rule, our deteriorating society would not be in such a sad state of affairs.
