When I was in high school, we studied about "Truth in Advertising." Back in those days, there were strict rules regarding what could be said in an advertisement. It was absolutely forbidden to lie about a product or the company would face the consequences of their actions.
However, I have watched over the years how these rules have been thrown out the window. Advertisers say whatever it takes to get someone to buy their products. Some advertiser's claims are ludicrous.
What is worse, there is no longer TRUTH IN POLITICS. I have noticed that politicians get before a camera and say whatever it takes to get a vote. The president is even guilty of this practice.
I am to the point that I don't believe half of what I hear or read. Lying in the media is one of many reasons why our country is deteriorating.
Some people lie so easily, they soon begin to believe their own lies. This is apparent when they do something wrong, and feel the need to justify their actions. Even though they are the perpetrator, they manage to twist things around to the point that they become the victim, and the original victim becomes the "bad guy" Think about it! It happens all of the time.
Do you lie? Try going a full day without telling a lie.
Lying alters the facts. Reality is changed. It is becoming a way of life. If telling the truth hurts, or does not accomplish a goal, many people simply lie.
