We are electing idiots, both in the Republican and Democratic parties, to run our country. I get furious when either party starts talking about reducing spending by cutting the jobs of teachers, policemen, and firemen. If they are not talking about cutting those jobs, they are threatening to cut social security. This is ludicrous!
We just saw how the GSA has wasted billions of our dollars, and even made a video bragging about it. We would probably be blown away, if we really knew what goes on in some of our government agencies. It would not take a rocket scientist to solve our economic woes. If government waste was eradicated, we would be in the black instead of being trillions of dollars in debt to China.
I realize that most government jobs are important; otherwise, how would our country function. On the other hand, I have personally held down two government jobs, both of them at a military base. I nearly died of boredom. Both of these jobs were absolutely useless, and I made good money doing practically nothing.
On one of the jobs, four people were finally caught and fired for getting someone else to clock them in and out. They didn't show up on the job for months. The supervisor did not miss them. Finally, someone ratted them out, or they might not have ever been caught.
My husband was a contractor. We subscribed to a publication of government jobs for contractors. It was a very thick publication and I was amazed at some of the projects that were to be built; some looked to me as being unnecessary. When I questioned an official about this, I was informed that these government facilities had to spend the money allotted to them, or their budgets would be reduced the next year. Can you believe? Building unnecessary buildings just so they could get the same amount, or more, the next year.
The government is like a gigantic business, and needs to be run like one. Every section of the government has someone in charge of that department. While many department heads do a good job, I am afraid that too many of them are like the man who headed up the GSA, the Government Services Agency.
