However,
if the nurse was two seconds off in handing off an instrument to the
BB-surgeon, and disrupted the flow, this would break the ticking clock rhythm,
giving the surgeon a flimsy excuse to start screaming. He would take his arm and completely clear
the nurse’s mayo-tray of instruments. The
instruments would fly all over the floor and a new mayo-tray would have to be
set up again. This particular surgeon
was well-known for throwing pans full of water and other instruments up against
the wall when some minor problem arose in the surgery suite.
Although I have related some "wild but true tales" in a chapter of my memoir about what goes on in a surgical suite of a hospital (sometimes), many people will find them hard to believe that professionals can act so bad.
