STICK AND STONES MAY HURT MY BONES...

The old adage "Sticks and stones will hurt my bones but words will never harm me" used to be true many years ago before the media exploded in television and on the Internet.  Now, words are driving the media, whether they are true or not, and causing a lot of harm.

Politicians have found that "spinning" words can be far more effective than physical harm.  This would not be happening if gullible people would use their brains and not just judge matters on "sound bites."  They are too lazy to listen to news programs long enough to be able to figure things out for themselves.

Last night, I was watching a focus group interact on Fox News.  One young man kept spouting off how he felt.  Finally, to my great pleasure, a woman reprimanded him by saying, "Stop!  All you are doing is spouting off sound bites."

The United States is in trouble.  An election is looming in the near future.  People who only base their opinion on "sound bites" need to start using their brains instead of being spoon fed by somone in the media.  We need to vote for someone who can straighten out the mess we are in and not someone who has a "silver tongue," who promises the world and delivers nothing.

Some of these people amaze me!  There was a huge protest in a big city the other day against Carl Rove.  When interviewed, most of the people could not tell the reporter why they were protesting and some did not even know who he was.  One woman thought he was running to be president.

I don't think these people have low IQs; I just think they don't use the brains the good Lord gave them.  They let other people do their thinking for them.
