SENATORS & CONGRESSMEN...should they be fired? Yesterday we honored Independence Day. Today, we wonder just how independent we will be as an American in the near future. Our lives are in the hands of our President, Senators and Congressmen for the most part. We elected our President in order to "change" our lives for the better and not to "change" it for the worse.
Immediately, bills were passed to supposedly improve all of our financial situations and provide jobs. It is common knowledge that the Senators and Congressmen did not read any of these bills before voting. How can they get away with this? That is their job, to read the bills and make an intelligent choice as to whether they should be passed or not. Did they do this? They, nor their aids, had time to read the whole bills. They voted along party lines for the most part.
They should have been given time and forced to read every bill word for word; then given a test for comprehension. Silly you say? This is serious business! All of us Americans are affected by their decisions and these bills should not have been processed in such a careless manner.
If they are not doing their job properly, or not at all, then why are they being paid such high salaries and obtaining generous perks. If I was hired by someone to do a job and did not do it properly, I would be fired. Actually, their performance borders on being illegal if you ask me.
The two party system was developed to bring a healthy balance to our government process. Over the years, it has deteriorated into the likes/competition of our favorite football teams, such as Auburn vs Alabama. It seems to be more important to win control of the government, and keep it, rather than work together for the better good of all Americans.
