July 30, 2009 - ARE YOU MAKING A DIFFERENCE?

I got an email today from someone who coaches a little league football team. He is making a difference in those kid's lives. They will always remember him.

What are you doing to improve this world?

If nothing else, we can volunteer our time, write letters to our lawmakers, teach a class at church, visit with a shut-in, or get involved in many other endeavors. Sometimes, just a smile at the right time can lift someone's spirits who might be severely depressed/troubled.

Better yet...strive to make the members in your family happy with words of love and encouragement, being as pleasant as possible, helping around the house, and putting their desires before your own. Unselfish people are the happiest people!

Everyone sits around and grumbles about how things are being managed in our American government right now but how many of us are truly doing anything constructive to change things? Of course, some people are happy with the way things are going. It is difficult for me to understand how they can be satisfied because I deal from LOGICAL THINKING and nothing that is going on seems very logical to me.

I don't mean to brag but I sincerely want to make a point. Years ago, I took a LOGIC course in college and I was the only one in the class who made 100 on all of the tests. I proved to myself that I may not be the smartest person in the world...but I am logical. A lot of people failed the class. Those are the kind of people who have put some of our lawmakers into office.

If you want to make a difference in this world...use your "brain" to guide you in making decisions instead of your emotions. Emotions will lead you down the wrong path...being swayed by charm, looks, smiles, promises, etc.

Think about this quote:
"Every man feels instinctively that all the beautiful sentiments
in the world weigh less than a single lovely action."
- James Russell Lowell
