NURSE'S NOTES PAGE

WHO ARE YOU?

You are what you "think" you are.  If you think you are a "loser," then you will probably become a loser.  If you think you can become a "successful person," then you are likely to become successful.

Sometimes, the way a person evaluates themselves is determined by what other people think of them by passing their feelings along with criticism or compliments.  What does this have to do with who you really are?  You are who you are, no matter what other people think of you.

I have often said that when I die, and a line passes me by as I lie in wait, each and every person who views me will evaluate me through their own perspective of who I was when I was alive.  In other words, sadly, we are who we are as we are perceived by others.  The problem is that too many people have faulty perspective mechanisms, and they evaluate others based on their own self-esteem, whether they have a critical or positive personalities, and their good or bad life experiences.

When you learn to ignore what others think of you, because you are who you are, not what anyone "thinks" you are, and accept yourself as you are, you will have arrived._
