July 31, 2009 - DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO STAND UP TO THE LIBERALS?
On the other hand, Sarah Palin (who is a good role model for conservatives) has been successfully married a long time, is the mother of three children (one of which might not exist if born to a liberal mother because he probably would have been aborted), has achieved much as a political figure in Alaska and has become very successful running the state Alaska as their governor. These accomplishments are being "glossed over" by the liberals as if they mean nothing. I would like to see Bill Mauher try to walk in her shoes because he is the one who is "stupid." The only thing he can brag about is having one of the "biggest and foulest" mouths in the country.
Why are we letting idiots like Mauher influence our thinking...as if he is important and his opinion carries a lot of weight? Why are we listening to people like him I ask?
As a nurse, I have personally seen this type of thinking. It happens frequently in the "real world" and I saw it in action in one of the critical care units that I worked in one time. The "bullies" (who were some of the stupidest nurses in the unit) ran the unit with their aggressive personalities. I saw good people being swayed by the words/actions of these people. Once, I even asked (what I thought was a very intelligent and good nurse) why she was going along with some of these morons and her answer was, "I want to fit in and not be viewed as an outsider."
This is the difference in being a "follower" instead of a "leader." I have stood up to doctors who could easily have gotten me fired. Why didn't they? Because I think they respected me for having the guts to stand up against them. Besides, I never confronted one unless I was absolutely sure that I was right...and they knew it.
It seems to me that the liberal minded people are slowly but surely tearing down our society with their immoral thinking, and some conservatives are following their lead because they don't have the guts to think/act for themselves.

July 30, 2009 - ARE YOU MAKING A DIFFERENCE?
What are you doing to improve this world?
If nothing else, we can volunteer our time, write letters to our lawmakers, teach a class at church, visit with a shut-in, or get involved in many other endeavors. Sometimes, just a smile at the right time can lift someone's spirits who might be severely depressed/troubled.
Better yet...strive to make the members in your family happy with words of love and encouragement, being as pleasant as possible, helping around the house, and putting their desires before your own. Unselfish people are the happiest people!
Everyone sits around and grumbles about how things are being managed in our American government right now but how many of us are truly doing anything constructive to change things? Of course, some people are happy with the way things are going. It is difficult for me to understand how they can be satisfied because I deal from LOGICAL THINKING and nothing that is going on seems very logical to me.
I don't mean to brag but I sincerely want to make a point. Years ago, I took a LOGIC course in college and I was the only one in the class who made 100 on all of the tests. I proved to myself that I may not be the smartest person in the world...but I am logical. A lot of people failed the class. Those are the kind of people who have put some of our lawmakers into office.
If you want to make a difference in this world...use your "brain" to guide you in making decisions instead of your emotions. Emotions will lead you down the wrong path...being swayed by charm, looks, smiles, promises, etc.

July 26, 2009 - WHO'S WATCHING YOU?
He told the children this story: He told them about the church having some sort of trouble with an important "pump" (I have forgotten) of some kind that was used by the church. The pump broke down and there was only one parts company that carried the part. The pastor called and was told the part would be there ASAP. It didn't come. Calling again and again, he always got an excuse but that it would be shipped soon. It didn't come. He began to write letters and continued to call...to no avail. He got extremely exasperated with this company.
He and his family went on vacation and he drove out of his way to go to this parts company to confront them in person. He got another excuse as to why the part had not been shipped. By this time, the pastor was beside himself and ready to absolutely explode at the person at the counter. Struggling with all his might, he managed to hold his temper and turned to leave.
Just as he turned, the man behind him said, "Rev. Johnson...I thought that was you. My family and I were in Destin a couple of months ago and visited your church. We were very impressed with you and the church."
Who's watching you? I worked in a place once that made all their patients watch a video titled: "Watch out...you are establishing a reputation."

July 25, 2009 - GOP HERO GETS LESS ATTENTION THAN GOP ROGUES

GOP Hero Gets Less Attention Than GOP Rogues
Posted by: Michael Medved at 5:15 PM
Not all governors are paralyzed by budget woes. Republican Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota found a gutsy way to close his state’s $2.7 billion deficit without raising taxes.
First, he vetoed a billion dollar Democratic tax hike. Then he refused to call back the legislature for a special session and instead slashed spending himself with the rare mechanism of unallotment. Defying protests and angry special interests, Pawlenty cut spending almost everywhere and ended the crisis.
The Democratic Speaker of the House said: The governor gave us two options: we could solve the budget deficit his way, or he would solve the budget deficit his way.
It’s a huge national story when a governor is caught in a sex scandal, but when a Republican displays courageous and principled leadership, the national press largely ignores his achievement.
Added note per Audrey: Isn't this the truth!

July 24, 2009 - DO YOU THINK LIKE A WINNER OR A LOSER?
THINKING PATTERN OF A LOSER:
- I give up
- There is no use in trying
- Why should I try, it is not going to work anyway
- I have bad luck
- Everybody is against me
- I tried and it didn't work
- It's too hard and won't work anyway
- I'm going to have a "pity party" and wallow in my self-pity because I deserve it
THINKING PATTERN OF A WINNER:
- I am not going to give up...no matter what
- If I don't try, nothing will surely work
- If I keep trying, somehow it will eventually work
- I have bad luck but some of this is my fault and I need to do better
- Some people may be against me but I will prove to them that they are wrong
- I tried...it didn't work so I am going to keep trying until it does work
- I don't care how hard it is...if someone comparable to me can do it...then so can I
- I am not going to engage in a "pity party" but I am going to go out and find some positive friends and engage in a "real party."
The lists could go on and on...but you get the message. Our successes and failures lie primarily within the space located between our two ears. With the exception of serious disabilities or ailments, anyone can be successful.
Definition of succeed: To obtain a desired object or end
The definition of success does not always mean obtaining wealth. Success can usually be measured by a person's "happiness gauge" as to whether they have obtained their goal or not.
Ask yourself...do you think like a winner or a loser? Have you obtained your desired objects in life or obtained the desired results of a given situation/relationship?

July 23, 2009 - EMAIL RECEIVED - OBAMA THINKS MILITARY SHOULD PAY OWN HOSPITALIZATION INSURANCE
IF this is true...this is the MOST unbelievable thing that I have ever heard of.
Subject: UNBLIEVEABLE comment from Obama about our servicemen
This is the first time that I have heard this. Obama is even more of a SOB than I thought. And that is really saying something. President Obama is surprised that veterans do not want to pay their own medical expenses.
Here is Obama's response when he backed off from his decision to let the military pay for their war injuries. Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans to carry pivate health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty.
The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal. "Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country," Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."
I guess OBAMA just doesn't get that the American people love and appreciate our military guys and gals who lay their lives on the line so we can lay our heads down at night in peace. That's because he is not an AMERICAN at heart. That much is obvious. Why in the world people voted for him I'll never know, but we all will surely pay the price and rue the day that he took office. America is getting change but not the change they were looking to get.
Audrey's comment to this article: I agree that this is unbelieveable. If he wants to save money, he needs to start at home. I wonder what Obama thinks about how much money per year it takes just to manage his wife's affairs as the First Lady of the President? Go to blog archives and click on "July 8, 2009 - COST IT TAKES TO MANAGE MICHELL OBAMA." It takes a whopping $1,144,000.00 per year to pay for her staff members to manage her life/affairs. This does not include other perks that she might receive. This is only one example of "government waste" but it doesn't matter if "they" are wasting the money.

July 23, 2009 - WHICH SIN WORSE...APATHY OR ULTRA-LIBERALISM?
I wonder which "sin" God would consider the worst..."APATHY" of the conservative minded inhabitants to allow others to run this world without resistance...or the "ULTRA-LIBERALISM" of those who aggressively push the idea that "if it feels good, then do it" without concern for the consequences of their actions.
The ten commandments were established for pointing out sins that would impact everyone's lives, much like apathy and ultra-liberalism. Today, many live by the idea that rules were made to be broken and feel that, "It's my way or the highway."

July 22, 2009 - EMAIL RECEIVED - PROBLEMS WITH THE HEALTH CARE PLAN
Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, Obama's socialized medicine will seriously harm every single one of us, and this includes those of us that are 65 and are now on Medicare. This plan is not about healthcare, it is about government control of us, PERIOD!
Examples of the law written within the 1000+ pages that Obama wants rushed through before summer recess (August 1st) and not read again by those enacting the law, like the stimulus law:
- If you do not have a health plan you will only be able to select the government plan
- You must pay for the government plan, you cannot opt out
- If you have a private plan and are company transferred to another state you will not be able to keep your company plan, you will only be able to take the government health plan
- If you drop your current private plan you will not be able to select another private plan, you will have to select the government plan
- All actions between you and your doctor will be audited and controlled by a government employee assigned to your case
- All your medical records will be in a data base for the government controllers to review and evaluate what procedures you will be allowed to have
- Obama is on record of stating that we should consider hospice as our a way to reduce healthcare costs
- Your age will control the amount and type of healthcare provided by the government
- Expected wait time for certain surgeries and or being assigned a specialist may exceed one year
- Current Medicare support will be reduced by more than $1.8 Billion, and 17 Million will be dropped from current Medicare rolls to help pay for government socialized medicine
- Within 4 years there will be not be private healthcare
- Current estimated costs for socialized medicine is at $1.6 Trillion and this estimate is probably low by a figure of 7 times!
This plan will bankrupt this country just like California and Massachusetts
Could this be what Obama wants, the actual destruction of this country as a world power?
Not one member of congress will be under this socialized medicine plan!

July 22, 2009 - WHO NEEDS THE SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN?
This is scary stuff! There are 1,000 or so pages in every one of the bills that are being passed, without our "elected" lawmakers doing their duty and reading what they are voting on.
In fact, I think there should be a "law" passed that all of them be forced to read the bills and take a generalized "compentancy" test to assure that they understand the bills before they are allowed to vote. Instead, they simply vote yes or no along party lines or whatever mood they might be at the time they vote. It's ludicrous that they are allowed to get away with such behavior.
Now, once again, without reading the health care bill, they are going to try and ram it down our throats...just before they take a three month rest from their weary duties as our lawmakers.
I agree with Greta Van Susteren of Fox News...why do we need these lawmakers if they are not going to read the bills?

July 21, 2009 - IF YOU CAN'T TAKE OUT THE TRASH...
If a person, man, woman or child, cannot do a simple act of "taking out the trash" without it becoming an "act of war," then it is a symptom of something deeper that has absolutely nothing to do with trash.
The person "who insists" on the trash being taken out and the person "who refuses" on taking out the trash, to the point of causing serious arguments/problems, are simply "control freaks." Control freaks cause more problems for themselves and others than possibly any other personality defect that a person can have.
They say that financal problems are the leading cause of divorce. While that might be right, I say that people who insist on "being right" about everything from trivial to important issues cause a lot of the divorces, which are at a record high in history.
Whether at home, workplace or at church, a sign of a "healthy mind" is the ability to be flexible and compromise about issues that are in dispute. More marriages and churches "split" due to people who "insist on being right."
As you have figured out by now, this is really not about "taking out the trash," it is about being inflexible and rigid, being a person who insists on having their way, to the point of creating serious problems for themselves and others.
I have some education/experience in mental health due to my nursing degree and it is a generally accepted fact in psychology that a person who is "extremely rigid" in their way of thinking has the most mental health problems.

July 20, 2009 - BOYCOTT HOTEL HILTONS EVERYWHERE
Allowing this group to meet on our own soil, shows how "stupid" our government has become to allow such a meeting to take place. This was done in the name of "free speech." Let them freely speak in Muslim countries. Their goal is to do away with Capitalism and promote an Islamic form of government.
Since our government has become so "liberal" in their thinking and is allowing such meetings to transpire right in our own backyard, then it is up to some of us Americans to do something. The best way to express our feelings about such a "ludicrous" decision made by Hilton, is to hit them in their pocket book. I have always been a fan of the chain of Hotel Hiltons, but no more.
Book your hotel room with another hotel. There are many hotels besides Hilton.

July 19, 2009 - ACT IN HASTE, REPENT IN LEISURE
I have always remembered that statement and found it to be absolutely true. The Obama administration should heed this same warning. Every since Obama went into office, his administration has been rapidly pushing bills on the Senate and Congress to pass immediately. Why? Think about it! Because he does not want them to possibly use their "brains" to decide whether the bills should pass or not.
If anyone does not think Obama is "acting in haste" then they need to get a CT scan to see if there is something wrong with the functioning of their brain.
Obama is "acting in haste" and I am afraid that we Americans are going to be "repenting in leisure" by becoming homeless, jobless, and possibly experiencing an economic collapse like we have never seen before. On the other hand, I hope Obama makes a liar out of me! Only time will tell!

July 18, 2009 - HOW DID HITLER THINK?
"The greater the lie, the greater chance that it will be believed." - Adolph Hitler
I tend to agree with him...for the simple reason that too many people love "gossip" and relish in the gory details. A small lie is usually not very interesting and will not gain the attention of many people. On a national level and a personal level, I have found that the greater the rumor about someone, (which most of the times is a lie or exaggeration) the faster it travels.
Have you ever wondered how Hitler got so many people to follow his evil deeds? One man? To gain everyone's confidence, he "brainwashed" people with his lies.
When I was in high school (way back when), we studied about "truth" in journalism. A journalist was bound by honor to report events as accurately as possible, leaving out personal feelings on the subject/action/event.
Today, we are bombarded from hundreds of media outlets with a different perspective on everything that is going on in the world today. To heck with "truth," it is "let me tell you what I think." I am guilty of the same thing but I am not a journalist but a commentator at best. At least, I try to stick to the facts.
We need to be on watch for the "truth" by watching/reading a variety of television news programs/newpapers/magagines, then use our "brains" to make every effort to ascertain the real truth about a given subject and not let someone spoon feed us a bunch of junk.
I agree with this quote:
Many people would sooner die than think. In fact they do." - Bertrand Russell
My problem is the ultra-liberal guys who do not care if something is the truth or not. This is how Adolph Hitler took over the German people's minds. Since our thoughts are being impacted by so many dysfunctional ideas, we need to be on guard for the "truth" and not fall for "everything" that is being said or written. Some people are simply too gullible to recognize they are being manipulated, much as Hitler did to the people of Germany.
This quote says it all:
"Thoughts are energy. And you can make your world or break your world by thinking." - Susan Taylor

July 17, 2009 - SAFER IN IRAQ OR WASHINGTON DC?
The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US , than you are in Iraq."
Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington.
July 17, 2009 - Democrats vs Republicans
DEMOCRATIC PARTY: Oldest party, is number one in registered voters with 72 million last year and has the majority in the Senate and Congress. Polls show 34-36% self-proclaimed Democrats.
REPUBLICAN PARTY: Established in 1854, second in number of registered voters with 55 million last year. Polls show 21-26% self-proclaimed Republicans.
INDEPENDENT PARTY: This is a party who are considered "centrist" that either leans slightly to the left (Democratic) or to the right (Republican). Due to the size of the party, it has little power in politics.
When I was a child, my father was a dogmatic, registered Democrat. Why? Because it was widely accepted that the Democrats were for the "working man" and the Republicans were for the "rich man." Was that actually so then and is that so now? Some still view these parties in the same way that my Dad did back in those days. Generally speaking, I think he might have been basically right in that it was the Republicans who owned most of the businesses, who in turn provided jobs for the Democrats who did most of the work. Remember, I said "generally speaking."
Well, it is certainly it not true today for me and some of my Republican friends/acquaintances, because we are certainly not "rich" and the businesses are owned and run by members of all three parties. I think the parties have either changed and whether you agree or disagree, this is the generally accepted definition of the parties now:
Over the years, due to the liberal media, the Democrats have "allowed" themselves to "default" into the party that represents the liberal Americans who tend to favor socialism, establishing a "nanny state" and includes the ultra-liberals who believe in "if it feels good, then do it." Are all Democrats flaming liberals? No, there are plenty of conservative Democrats who do good things.
On the other hand, the same liberal media has caused the Republicans to "default" into the "conservative" party, standing for moral values that are pretty much along biblical teachings. Are all Republicans conservative, moral, honest and trustworthy? No, there are plenty of Republicans who do unsavory acts.
The Independent Party does not have enough power, due to its size, to affect politics dramatically. Ross Perot made an impact, although he did not win. Actually, I would like for the O'Bama administration to consider using some of Perot's colorful charts to explain to us what they are doing because most of us cannot understand what they are attempting to do. Maybe a chart would help!
I was once very good friends with a couple, who have now passed away, who owned several businesses, were rich, and was "conservative" in their thinking but insisted that they were "registered Democrats" and would always vote along party lines, and was proud of it. They both had been raised by "working class" parents who were Democrats. Are you a Democrat or a Republican simply because your parents were Democrats? Then its time you grew up and evaluated what is going on in the world today.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER A PERSON IS A DEMOCRAT, REPUBLICAN OR AN INDEPENDENT, as long as the "brain" is in gear before the hand hits the "vote" button. Be flexible enough to cross over party lines and vote for the person that you think will be the best man/woman for the job.

July 16, 2009 - FRIENDS ARE IMPORTANT
One of my favorite quotes is: "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." - Anais Nin
I am lucky to have quite a few friends. I have come to realize that we all come in different flavors, much like ice cream at a Baskin Robbins Shop, and that it is a "very good thing." Friends are sometimes treated like ice cream with too many people getting hung up on one flavor so that they miss out on some of the more tasty ones in another container further down the cooler.
My daughter-in-law and son spent the night with me not long ago and she brought chocolate and mint ice cream. My first thought was, "Yuck!" Guess what? I helped finish it off.
There have been times in the past, when meeting someone new, I immediately decided that I would not like them, but would find out later that I really misjudged them.
My best friend and I are pretty close in personalities/likes/dislikes and etcetera so we are very compatible/close. BUT...I have some other friends that are either slightly or completely different from me. If I was only content with hanging out with my best friend, my world would be a lot smaller because we are "too much alike." Having a bunch of friends who are as different as "Tutti Fruity" ice cream makes for a "tasty treat" when hanging out. You vicariously get caught up in their "world of stories" and come away with a different perspective on life.
Broaden your horizon...make as many friends as you can because they will bring a lot of pleasure into your life. This will help you to quit listening to the news telling us, "Chicken Little! Chicken Little! The sky is falling." On second thought, maybe it is...I better get up from here and turn on the news.

July 15, 2009 - CHANGE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD
Although I am basically a Republican at heart, I voted for President Carter, who was President from 1977 to 1981. Why did I vote for him? Because we had just come out of a bad experience with Nixon and the "Watergate" scandal. Although Gerald Ford took over and reigned until 1977, the negative impact of Nixon's presidency lingered on. I was like everyone else and I wanted a "CHANGE" in the government.
Carter was extremely charming, had a great smile and could make wonderful speeches. He was like a "breath of fresh air" to our country. We were certain that he would make a "CHANGE" for the better in our government. Does this sound familiar?
Carter made a "CHANGE" alright...he stood by and allowed the interest rate go out of sight, higher than it had ever gone before in history, which impacted me and my family's life dramatically.
Back then, it was according to which group you fell into as to whether you were happy with the Carter administration. The examples below are only two of probably a thousand ones, but they will hopefully make my point:
1) My dad was a plant worker and his job remained stable throughout the Carter administration. He never had a lot of debt and had some money in the bank. He absolutely loved Carter because the money in his saving account doubled and he was thrilled. The only impact he felt was when he tried to buy a car, he was unhappy with the interest rate quoted to him. Fortunately, he did not have a mortgage on his house. If he had had a variable rate mortgage on his house, like many people did, it would have went up dramatically and he would have felt more of an impact on his life.
2) My husband was a builder of residential homes. Although he custom built some homes, he also built some of his own to sell. When he built a house for someone or some of his houses sold, that was the means in which he generated income. In 1977, when Carter went in, we owned a 5,000 sq. ft. home, three new vehicles, and had a small amount of money in the bank. We only kept a small amount in savings because it took a lot of money to run the business. EVERYTHING WE OWNED WAS PAID FOR AND WE HAD NO PERSONAL DEBT. We had very little debt in the business but when someone runs a business, they usually have some on-going debt generated for the business to function.
Times were very good for my family prior to 1977. Like today, we could not believe that anything really bad could happen to us. What could possibly happen? Everything we owned personally was paid for and we were set for life. We intended to retire in that house. In fact, life was so good that I entered nursing school in 1977, thinking everything was "okey dokey." By the time I received my nursing degree in 1979, our world had "gone to hell in a hand basket."
During this time, my husband kept building houses, thinking that the interest rate would surely go down and not up. It had never done that before! The banks must have felt the same way because they kept loaning money to most of the contractors, even though the housing industry had come to a screeching halt. Note: This also affected building supply houses, carpet suppliers, furniture dealers, construction workers, etc.
All contractors borrow construction loans from the bank to build their homes. When the homes are sold, the construction loans are paid off and the remainder is the "income" generated by the contractor. My husband's homes had always sold on a fairly regular basis, generating a good income for our family, and he was considered to be a very successful contractor.
What I hold against Carter is that he "allowed" the interest rate to climb to unheard of limits. Why didn't he do something? People had stopped buying houses. My husband's income stopped coming in but his outgo began to triple. When a contractor borrows a construction loan from a bank, they charge them the prime rate plus 2% and all of the loans are variable rate loans. Briefly, at one point, the interest rate on all of my husband's construction loans hit 23%. During most of Carter's presidency, the rate hovered around 16-18%.
(Note: Carter was rich before he went into office. It can be assumed that he had tons of money in banks and other investments. What was his incentive to lower the interest rates? He was living "high on the hog" in the white house while his money was doubling/tripling.)
My husband had about a dozen houses with variable rate construction loans on all of his houses. Everyone was waiting on the interest rate to come down before they bought a house. My husband's astronomical outgo continued, eating away at all of our assets, including our personal ones that we had to put up for security. We felt as if we had been hit by an economic tsunami.
By the time Carter was voted out of office, our lives were in complete shambles. I am only telling a small portion of the story. We found ourselves living in pure hell. We had lost practically everything. NO...CHANGE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD.
By the grace of God and plenty of hard work, once Carter was out of power and the interest rate improved, we worked our way back to an acceptable standard of living. I now live in a very nice house, have no mortgage, vehicles are paid for, no debt and a small amount of money in the bank. BUT...it has not been easy! What I have found out is that God will not do it all, but if you are willing, he will assist you in obtaining your goals in life.
Now, maybe you can understand why I try to be somewhat of a "political activist."
July 14, 2009 - COMMENT RECEIVED PER EMAIL
First, I must respond: By the way, I would never ask or require that anyone read my blog daily, let alone post a comment to it. I am also not in love with my computer but blog everyday simply to "do what I can" to enlighten/inform/persuade Americans to get involved in politics and not just "take things lying down." I hope I am proven wrong, but I feel as if we are heading for the biggest economic disaster that the readers of this blog has experienced since the "great depression." I wasn't alive during that time, but I have been told that it was a "rough" period of time for everyone.
NOW, ON TO MY FRIEND'S EMAIL "COMMENT" TO MY RAMBLINGS ON THIS SITE:
Hi Audrey, Where shall I begin? In regard to abortion, I believe in a patient's right to privacy & this is an issue to be resolved between a woman & her doctor. I believe we should be able to own guns. The only place appropriate for assault rifles would be in battle. How people get them outside the military is the issue. Sarah Palin is probably a good person, but I don't think she was ready for the national stage. As for comedy-they don't spare anyone-why should she be the exception ? Pelosi is not one of my favorite people, but I don't think she is running the whole show. For one thing, she spends much more time on her appearance than what is going on in the country. I do think there should be term limits for the congress & they should have to resign if they are too ill to carry out their duties. I also think there should be an age limit or some kind of limit for the supreme court justices & that they should also have to resign if they are too ill to serve. Our economy is in a mess & this mess has been in the making for quite some time-it can't be blamed entirely on any one administration. The expert economist say that they are not absolutely sure of any solution. They are trying what they hope will work. Yes we are running up a huge deficit & yes we will have to pay it back someday. The key is to get Americans back to work-then there will naturally be more revenue to take care of the debt. The cost of health care as well as wages are the reasons so many jobs have gone to other countries. Health care is an integral part of this whole deboggle-health care must be reformed. I don't see how anyone who has worked in health care could think our system is ok. I say let's give Obama & his administration a chance. The American people have spoken - it is our democracy at work-it has worked for us for many years now & has gotten us through many other crises-let's have faith that it will work for us now. Once we have voted, we have little control over these issues. We can pray for God to guide those who are in control. Perhaps these remarks will shed a little light on my political views. Please don't expect me to comment on a daily basis. I'm just not that much in love with my computer. With Love & Prayers, Your Friend
Now, back to me: I certainly appreciate Brenda's response. See...we all have a different "perspective" on what is going on. Sometimes we are miles apart and sometimes we only have slight differences.
I believe that our viewpoints are shaped by what we see and hear. If we watch/read liberal or conservative slanting news channels/newpapers/magazine/blogs, then we tend to agree with them. Also, I don't think some people are taking this crisis as serious as they should with the feeling, "It will turn out okay, it always does."
See July 15th blog about my personal experience regarding this matter. No...it doesn't always turn out okay.

July 14, 2009 - Abortion & Gun Control
1) First, the issue of abortion. I could write about why a person should be against abortion "until the cows come home" but I won't right now. BUT...if abortion must exist...there should be some very strict rules governing the right to get or perform an abortion. To say that it is LEGAL to inject saline into the womb of a full-term baby to kill it, while killing a baby the second it is fully born is considered ILLEGAL is absolutely ludicrous! Also, people have been convicted of murder of an unborn baby when they kill the mother and/or the baby. Suddenly, the baby that has been murdered has transformed from a non-viable fetus to a human being in progress. Go figure!
2) Second, the issue of gun control. I defend my right as an American to own a gun. What I don't understand is why there are not stricter rules governing who can own a gun and what kind of a gun. I think it is perfectly acceptable for a "normal" person to own a pistol for protection and a rifle or shotgun for hunting...BUT I do not understand why there are not stricter rules for owning assault rifles and other types of guns that serve no useful purpose, with the exception of the military or police. If anyone thinks that doing away with the rights of Americans to own a gun will keep the criminals from owning them is living in a fantasy world. There will always be a "black market" for guns.

July 13, 2009 - Two horrible acts of crime!
I cannot even imagine the horror the family members are experiencing when they go to the graveyard and find that their loved one's bodies are missing. Although most people realize that their spirits are no longer there, hopefully residing in heaven, but it is still a "tangible" place where they can go and pay their respects, while reflecting on past memories when the deceased person was still alive.
2) It is also hard to believe that anyone can be evil enough to walk into someone's home, who are raising sixteen children, with twelve of them being adopted and some of them being handicapped, and brutally killing them in cold blood. A sentence of death would be too kind...they need to be put in isolation and never let out for the rest of their lives.
Nothing seems to be sacred anymore.

July 12, 2009 - Religion and Politics
It seems to me that if more people in politics and the media would turn to God, there might be more "truth" in politics and in reporting the news. Do I get an Amen?
Just imagine...if there was no God. Our bible says that he first appeared to the Jews to offer his services as their God. The Jews got all tangled up in rules and regulations making it almost impossible to worship God. I envision God thinking, "These guys just don't get it. It may be because I am invisible, unable to speak to them directly, and they can't put a face on me as their God. I will send down my son, in the flesh, to instruct them on the simple rules of worship."
Jesus came and some accepted him and some didn't. It is the same today! But, the ones of us who do accept him try to live by his simple teachings such as "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I think it helps most of us to have a mental picture of him as set forth in the four gospels, not physically, but as a real live, loving, human being.
What if Jesus had never been born and we still had to rely on an invisible God? God might have died in some people's eyes. Just think...Jesus is responsible for thousands and thousands of churches being in existence around the world. I put forth the question again...what if Jesus had never be born? Where would I have went this morning to refresh my soul?
Another thought...if there wasn't a God...mankind probably would have already annihilated each other. Our world is getting closer to doing just that because we are sinking more and more into becoming a decadent society. The simple rules of Jesus are just too hard for some people to follow, so many are turning their backs on him and following their own rule of "If it feels good, then do it."

July 11, 2009 - Sarah Palin
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDE3MmE5MDVmMGM1YjQ2NmVhMjJkN2I2ZTcxMzhlNjU=
A point of interest about David Kahane is that he writes under a pen name primarily and his nom de cyber is Jack Dunphy. He is a policeman who works for the Los Angeles Police Department. He writes very pithy columns. The link below will carry you to a page that lists some of his past articles. I promise you that they won't bore you and make you "think" about some of his observations about life in general. Below is a link to some of his columns written under the name of Jack Dunphy.

July 10, 2009 - Miscellaneous ramblings!
1) $18,000,000 spent on upgrading (not a brand new site) but I repeat "upgrading" the government web site recovery.gov that was established to keep us informed as to where our money is going. It is supposed to make the web site look better. It would look better if the pie shaped chart on the site reflected a reduction in our deficit by not spending $18,000,000 on this ridiculous project.
2) Sarah Palin is being made the butt of David Letterman's jokes again. Can you believe it? What is sad is that it is probably improving his ratings. The people who do things like this seem to actually enjoy inflicting pain. Isn't there some kind of psychiatric diagnosis for people who like to inflict pain? To cover their tracks, they go into comedy where it seems to be all right to say and do just about anything...and it is supposed to be funny.
3) Michael Jackson is in a better place right now, away from the media who attacked him so viciously that he became somewhat of a recluse, and made his life miserable. Now that he is dead, they have attempted to elevate him to a level just one notch below God. Go figure!
4) Mystery of the week is...who is telling the truth Nancy Pelosi or Leon Panetta? Either way, they both hold high offices that affect our lives and the truth needs to come out. Does anybody really think that will happen?
5) Our economy is being driven by the actions of our lawmakers and it seems to be going "down the drain" with the talk of another stimulus package in the works. Why don't they spend the 90% of the first stimulus package before venturing out to pass another one. What can we do to change things? Well, we voted and where did that get us? We can write to our Senators and Congressmen but what good would that actually do? They don't even read the bills that they pass in our behalf before they vote. Our "hope" for a better future for ourselves, children and grandchildren has been eroded and many people are now living in "despair."
6) My pet peeve, the money going to the salt water marsh project in California (Nancy Pelosi's pet project), has been making the news frequently. There has been some discrepancy in reporting the amount of money being spent, but whatever the amount is...the mice needs to stand in line behind a lot of hungry human beings in this country. I have developed another pet peeve...the money spent on providing a turtle crossing tunnel so that some turtles can get from one side of the road to the other. I say to the turtles that "the grass is not greener on the other side," so just stay on the side you find yourselves on and you will stay alive.
7) Last but not least, the news that has bothered me the most today is the coverage of the social security department meeting at a luxurious resort (costing over $700,000.00 of our tax dollars) to go over the present management of the social security in order to improve it. I assume that they are working? between golf, swimming, massages, and gourmet dining. What galls me is that my mother died on June 19th and they did not send her check so that I could pay her bills. I called the S/S and was told she would not get one and that they did not prorate the checks even though she was alive over 1/2 of the month. When one of the higher ups was questioned about the cost (standing in the resort), with the interviewer comparing it to the AIG trips, he replied, "But we didn't get any stimulus money." The dummy! Where does he think the money came from (a fairy?) and not realize that we taxpayers paid for the trip and everyone's salary while staying at the resort. That is the reason the S/S department needs improvement because it is being run by the likes of him.
That's enough rambling for one day...

July 9, 2009 - Pelosi/Reid/O'Bama
It seems to me that Pelosi and Harry Reid are running things and O'Bama is the "front" man out in the public, saying one thing while they are doing something else. It is a fact that the Senators and Congressmen are not reading the large bills but voting along party lines. Does anybody think (for one moment) that the President read any of the bills? He claimed in his campaign that he would strike out all of the unnecessary earmarks. Has he done this once? No! It appears to me that the only ones who know everything that is in the bills are Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Can this be?
I don't claim to be the smartest person in the world but I think I could have done a better job than those two. Since we are in such dire straights with our economy, I would have only included projects that were ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to stimulate the economy and create jobs. There are more "silly" projects included in the bills that it makes me sick to know that our tax money is going to them. There are too many of these projects to list, like about 9,000. It is said that about 10,000 dead people received a stimulus check. Some mice in California will benefit from $60,000,000 dollars.
I know of some human beings in poverty stricken areas that could certainly benefit from the $60,000,000 more than the mice. Sure, the mice help to spread the sawgrass that keeps the beaches from eroding but couldn't that wait awhile? In this poor economy, there are a lot of humans who are struggling to buy food.
Why is she given so much power without any oversight? A good leader, which O'Bama has been elected to do for us, does not try to do all the work themselves but delegates it out to others and then provides oversight to make sure they are carrying out his instructions. So, either Pelosi and Reid are doing their jobs according to his instructions or O'Bama is a poor leader who is not managing them and does not know what is "really" going on.
NEWS BULLETIN about Pelosi vs Panetta in regard to the CIA being liars. It has just come out that there is a letter, not from Panetta himself personally, written on white house stationery stating that Panetta has admitted that the CIA frequently lies to Congress all of the time. It is amazing how politicians manipulate everything around to back up their misdeeds. Both parties are experts in using smoke and mirrors to confuse any issue that arises. A full blown investigation is being considered to resolve this matter as to who is doing the lying. Mercy! Politics have deteriorated into the likes of what goes on in the popular soap operas on television.

July 7, 2009 - I report, you decide about O'Bama
I feel like Fox News now...I report this and you decide!
1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a‘cool customer’ who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's ‘behind the mask’. Taking down the Clinton dynasty from apolitical neophyte was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.
2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!
3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can’t be straight forward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to ‘level the playing field’ with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada.
4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, & NATIONAL HEALTH CARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his health care program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-typesingle-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada. God forbid.
5. He’s surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they’re going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can’t work in the long run. Obama’s not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.
6. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the United States, but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America, as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!
7. He’s now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not ‘come due’ until after he’s reelected in 2012. He’d like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego, and Mr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.
8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. We’re ‘pining’ for another Reagan, but there’ll never be another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she’s to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and states’ rights.
9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We’re spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.
10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed. Fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of ‘change’ caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election, it was surprising it was as close as it was.
11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it’ll be a dogfight. It’ll all be about the economy.I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and Congress. There’s a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we’re right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it's far too late.

July 6, 2009- Crucification of Sarah Palin
When I was very young, my father worked in a plant for a living. In other words, he was a "blue collar" worker. At that time, it was good to be a Democrat because they took up the mantle for the working class of people.
Now, the sad thing is that the Democrats have "allowed" themselves to be labeled as liberals. On the other hand, the Republicans have "defaulted" into the conservative branch of our government.
Today, how is the word "liberal" defined? It is usually defined as "anything goes" in society, without rules, and now as being "big spenders" when in power in our government. My dad would turn over in his grave if he was aware of what has happened to the Democrats. Liberals and Democrats have almost become interchangeable words.
WHAT HAS SARAH PALIN DONE TO DESERVE THIS ONSLAUGHT FROM THE LEFT? The main thing that she has done is to be "conservative" minded, admits to being a Christian, is very family oriented, loves her husband and tries to live a morally clean life. Apparently, the left wing liberal media cannot tolerate such a woman.
Why would God choose Sarah to expose the liberal bias to the world? Because she is one tough woman and can take it. I feel that she has not dropped out as governor of Alaska to run and hide from the media because she is weak; she has something up her sleeve and it will be interesting to see what it is. It may take awhile, but everyone has not heard the last from Sarah Palin.
Also, we cannot comprehend the endless problems and legal issues that she has faced in her office as governor since the election, and probably feels that it would be best for Alaska for her to resign in order to save herself and the State money. It has already cost the State $2,000,000 and $500,000 for her personally. Her resignation also gives the new governor the opportunity to get some work done for the people of Alaska. Her and her staff have been stymied since the election.
On the other hand, what if I am wrong and she does not have something up her sleeve regarding her political career? What would be wrong with simply being smart enough to back away from public life, knowing full well that the media is going to continue to crucify her, to raise her children without being viciously murdered with hateful words by the liberal media and bloggers?
Motherhood is just as important as being elected to some high political office. That's the problem with the world today, too much emphasis is placed on self-grandiose accomplishments. Either way, I am confident she can handle whatever God has in store for her.
The last time I saw such vicious attacks on a political person was President Clinton. That was horrible! At least he had done something due to his relationship with Monica Lewinski. But...I repeat: WHAT HAS SARAH PALIN DONE TO DESERVE THIS KIND OF TREATMENT?

July 5, 2009 - Fire Senators & Congressmen
Immediately, bills were passed to supposedly improve all of our financial situations and provide jobs. It is common knowledge that the Senators and Congressmen did not read any of these bills before voting. How can they get away with this? That is their job, to read the bills and make an intelligent choice as to whether they should be passed or not. Did they do this? They, nor their aids, had time to read the whole bills. They voted along party lines for the most part.
They should have been given time and forced to read every bill word for word; then given a test for comprehension. Silly you say? This is serious business! All of us Americans are affected by their decisions and these bills should not have been processed in such a careless manner.
If they are not doing their job properly, or not at all, then why are they being paid such high salaries and obtaining generous perks. If I was hired by someone to do a job and did not do it properly, I would be fired. Actually, their performance borders on being illegal if you ask me.
The two party system was developed to bring a healthy balance to our government process. Over the years, it has deteriorated into the likes/competition of our favorite football teams, such as Auburn vs Alabama. It seems to be more important to win control of the government, and keep it, rather than work together for the better good of all Americans.
