August 30, 2009 - Senator Kennedy

I didn't watch much of the Kennedy funeral yesterday because I was too busy but I did pick up some news and my daughter filled me in on some facts that I missed.

Too many times, we stress the negative in a person's life and downplay the positive traits. Senator Kennedy has been a victim of being judged in a negative light by a lot of people. It is my understanding that the people who knew him well respected him.

It is common knowledge that he was somewhat of a wild man in his youth but he made up for it in his later years. If your family adores you, and all of his family adored him, then you can bet he was a good man. He became the kind of man that the family could depend on. All families need that. When the world has gone to hell in a handbasket, there needs to be someone in our lives who provides understanding and support.

Sure, he made some bad mistakes in his life. How many of us haven't? Extremely liberal? Yes. But we should not hold that against him.

August 28, 2009 - WOULD NATIONAL HEALTH CARE HAVE SAVED THIS MAN'S LEG?

As I have stated before, but some people might have missed it, I am a retired registered nurse who does medical transcribing for a local hospital.

One of the cases today went like this paraphrased:

A 45 year old man, who is a diabetic, lost his job and lost his insurance. He developed an ulcer on his left heel. Since he had no insurance, he put off going to the doctor.

Finally, he went to his doctor since the ulcer had gotten so bad that he could not stand it and it was too late. He had developed gangrene. He had a below the knee amputation in order to save his life. Afterwards, social services of the hospital applied to a governmental agency for some financial help and was told that it would take up to three months to get a response, either yes or no. The doctor and the hospital would have to wait and possibly "eat" the cost of removing his leg.

Would this have happened if we were on National Health Care? Who knows. If the care that is proposed is similar to Canada's health care, or some of the other countries national health care, he still might have lost his leg due to the "wait time" involved in getting care.

IT IS A FACT THAT HEALTH CARE NEEDS TO BE REFORMED BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO RISK TURNING BACKWARD IN GETTING QUALITY HEALTH CARE.

The problem with most of us who try to be informed and use our brains is that we are convinced that the proposed health care, at this point in time, will not provide quality and timely health care.

WHY CAN'T THE REPUBLICANS AND THE DEMOCRATS SIT DOWN AND COME UP WITH AN OPTION THAT WILL BE GOOD FOR ALL AMERICANS.

Noooooo, they have to compete, like players in a football game. All that matters is winning. It is more important for one of them to win than being concerned for the welfare of all the American citizens.

Feel free to comment just below this posting.

August 25, 2009 - DOES OBAMA BELIEVE IN MARXISM?

Does Obama believe in Marxism or Capitalism? He definitely believed in the Karl Marx approach to government in his youth. It is evident as set forth in one of his books. He stated that he would set out to seek friends such as Marxist Professors, among other statements.

He seems to have surrounded himself with "communist minded" friends up to this point in his life. This was brought out in the campaign but nobody cared. One of the Czars in his administration if a self avowed communist.

It is common knowledge that Obama likes the thought of the redistribution of wealth among Americans. This is the basis of communism. Our country was built on capitalism and that is why it has always been one of the leading nations in the world. Are there problems with capitalism? Of course, but it is better than communism.

HAS OBAMA EVER STATED THAT HE WAS FOR CAPITALISM? IF WE ARE TO REMAIN A CAPITALISTIC NATION, SHOULDN'T WE HAVE A CAPITALISTIC PRESIDENT IN CHARGE?

How about the communist countries in the world? Russia was a dominant communist country for many years. There was a redistribution of wealth in the country. It seems that it was redistributed all right...everyone was poor. The leading communist countries now are China, Cuba, North Korea, Loas, and Vietnam. How would you like to live in one of these countries? Could we possibly be added to that list only a few years from now? We seem to be moving in that direction.

Wake up people. Don't be like baby birds that sit in a nest with their mouths wide open waiting to be fed. Use your brains!

CAPITALISM DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE REFORMED. IF OUR TAX MONEY WAS SPENT MORE WISELY, THERE WOULD BE MORE MONEY TO ACCOMPLISH MORE PROGRAMS TO ASSIST THE NEEDY.

We have enough programs to help the needy, the true needy people such as the elderly, disabled, foster children, etc., but the lazy, good-for-nothings in this country bleed the programs dry. More work needs to be done to eliminate fraud in our entire governmental system.

MY TIP FOR THE MARXIST MINDED PEOPLE IS TO GO LIVE IN A COUNTRY THAT IS GOVERNED BY COMMUNISM AND LEAVE OUR AMERICAN GOVERNMENT ALONE.

August 21, 2009 - HOW COME OBAMA HAS SUDDENLY BECOME HOLY?

It is common knowledge that Obama has shied away from religion since becoming President, saying that he does not want to offend a Baptist by attending a Presbyterian church, etc. You get the idea! He did away with national prayer, thereby appeasing those who are against prayer. In the past, he did not hesitate to attend a church for 20 years that cursed America and the pastor, among other horrible statements against America, would even go so far as to say, "GD America!"

NOW, with another political move, he has suddenly become "politically religious" and is trying to get the religious right to support him in this uproar about the health care bill. He wants to make those of us who are protesting to look as if we are not keepers of our brothers. He is amazing at to what lengths he will go to in trying to manipulate the media to back him up.

For some reason, the liberal left wingers seem to think that we (as protestors) are against health care reform and do not care if some people are suffering because they do not have insurance. That could not be further from the truth.

See the following:
  1. We absolutely want health care reform.
  2. We want to be sure that we get GOOD health care reform.
  3. We want to improve the health care system, not go backwards in care.
  4. We do not want a system like Canada or some of the other countries.
  5. We absolutely want EVERYONE to have health care but not if it means winding up with an inferior system for the ones who presently have health care insurance.
  6. We want the lawmakers to earn their salaries and do their jobs by reading the bill and explaining to us what they are going to vote on.
  7. We do not want the bill crammed down our throats.
  8. We want the lawmakers to come up with a plan that will satisfy all Americans, not just the liberal Democratic people in our society. Even the Blue Dog Democrats understand this simple principle.

If they vote this through, they will pay the price. If they think we are protesting against their decisions on our behalf now, wait until election time.

August 20, 2009 - HOW DO YOU PERCEIVE THE WORLD WE LIVE IN?

I was just reading a newspaper article written by a journalist who was slamming Glenn Beck. He views Beck's ranting from his own personal/professional experiences in life. I might add that this journalist is black, due to the picture that accompanied the article.

If you are reading this as a white person, have you ever considered how you would view the world/events/circumstances today if you were born black?

I have and I am sure that I would view everything differently.

I have had a lot of hardships in my time and if I was born black, I am confident that I would blame many/most of my problems on being black...like being turned down for a job, a loan, etc. It would be human nature to do so due to the events that have transpired in black history. But...the truth of the matter is that we whites have had our share of problems/failures to deal with and we can't blame it on the color of our skin.

To say that there is no racism today would be a ludicrous statement but logical thinking must replace racial thinking, by both whites and blacks, when making decisions on important issues.

Hopefully, one day we will all simply be called Americans without any mention of our race. I personally think that the expression African American should be dropped since this automatically points out that the person is black and seems to imply that they are not a pure American.

August 19, 2009 - WHY IS BARNEY FRANK STILL A CONGRESSMAN?

Everyday, I am appalled at how the liberal media attacks some people/politicians for being moral upstanding citizens, like Sarah Palin, while others who are guilty of horrific acts, like Barney Frank, gets away with almost no condemnation.

This is an excerpt from an article about Barney Frank and does not even scratch the surface of his acts during his political career and he is still voted back in time and time again.

Excerpt from The Gambler as published in the National Review, August 24, 2009 issue:

It's hard to think of another Congressman who would have survived the revelation that he had had recourse to a prostitute, had taken the prostitute into his home, had hired the prostitute as a congressional aide, had written letters to probation officers in the prostitute's behalf on congressional letterhead, and had had a gay whorehouse run out of his Capitol Hill home, with the whole circus coming to an ugly public climax when the prostitute inspired by a viewing of Mayflower Madam, tried to sell his story to the Washington Post.

For a normal politician, that's the sort of scandal that keeps your great-grandkids out of politics.

Note from Audrey: As I said, this was only an excerpt of a four page article about Barney Frank and his misdeeds which go on and on and on. Why does he keep being voted back into office?

Remember: He is paid with the taxes we send to Washington.

August 18, 2009 - NHS vs USA PROPOSED HEALTH CARE

The following is only the last one-half of a column written by Cal Thomas and found on Townhall.com which can be accessed toward the bottom of this blog on the right under "My Blog Lists."

The British media are conflicted. They patriotically defend the NHS, while simultaneously acknowledging its serious shortcomings. One example: A recent Daily Mail editorial praised the NHS for its free care and universal availability, but then added, "Our survival rates for breast, prostate, ovarian and lung cancers are among the worst in Europe, despite huge additional expenditures." Free is nice, but best is better.

Beyond the headlines are some disturbing trends within the NHS that ought to serve as a warning to Americans, should they wish to abandon, rather than improve, our current system for treating the sick.

Last week, a London Times story began: "Hospitals Creaking Under the Strain as NHS Vacancies Are Left Unfilled."

The story reported that socialized medicine has created a shortage of doctors, nurses and other clinical staff. As of March 31, a survey found a 5.2 percent vacancy rate in these critical fields, compared to a 3.6 percent vacancy rate a year earlier. According to the Times, "Qualified nurses and midwives are retiring at a greater rate than newly trained staff can enter the professions." A poll conducted by the Royal College of Nurses found that among 8,600 young people, aged 7 to 17, "only 1 in 20 considered nursing to be an attractive career."

Anthony Halperin, a Trustee of the Patients Association, said: "Nursing staff see that there are higher rewards in the private sector while doctors and dentists no longer see medicine as a career for life, or are having their hours cut back by European legislation. All of this has negative outcomes for patients." A man attending a town meeting in America and who opposes the Democrats' reform plan said on Fox News, (and replayed on BBC): "Have you seen British teeth?"

Anyone wishing to revise America's medical system and model it after Britain and Canada ought to thoroughly examine how these health care systems function before plunging into the same pool. A reasonable conclusion is that these systems require long waits and treatments (if you can get them) that are inferior to the U.S., based on government "guidelines" that frequently approve care only if the patient is deemed "worthy of the investment."

As a symbol, Adolf Hitler has been overused, but the philosophy behind the horrors he unleashed can be found in the beliefs of some of those who would use the power of the state to determine who gets help and who doesn't.

The 1933 Sterilization Law was one of Hitler's first acts after taking power. Called "The Law for the Prevention of Genetically Diseased Offspring," it required compulsory sterilizations for those deemed by the state to be "racially unsound," including people with disabilities.

In a posting on the Huntington's Disease Website, Phil Hardt, who along with his wife visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington to study the Third Reich's view of medicine and the sick, reached this conclusion: "Perhaps when you reduce a human being to nothing more than an 'element,' they somehow become easier to abuse and later kill."

As with a journey, so it is with inhumanity: both begin with a single step.

Note from Audrey: Hilter's regime is an example of a country/people simply taking the word of their leader without using their own brains to analyze the situation and ignoring red flags that were surely flying to tell them that something was definitely "wrong" with Hitler and his leadership.

August 16, 2009 - WHAT IS IN THE HEALTH CARE BILL?

Apparently, the health care bill is so complex that even the most informed/intelligent people have difficulty deciphering it, but on television this morning a lawyer, who has spent quite a bit of time going through it, said that to the best of his ability the following will happen. (Why should it be so hard for a lawyer to understand the bill?)

Obama: We can keep our own health care plan and doctor.

Lawyer: We can keep it for the first five years but if it is self-insured, it will be gone in five years. If it is not self-insured, the policy cannot change in premiums or in any sort of way or it will also be gone within five years. People will be FORCED to go into the government plan. He predicts that anywhere from 5-10 years there will not be any private insurance but only a single payer plan provided by the government.

Note: I would love to see the President appoint a committee of doctors, nurses, insurance representatives, pharmaceutical company representatives, etc. to decide on what goes into the bill instead of Pelosi, Reid, and God only knows who else has had input into this bill.

August 15, 2009 - WHY EVERYONE IS IN AN UPROAR ABOUT HEALTH CARE

I am confident that most people realize that health care needs to be reformed. As a nurse who has worked primarily in hospitals, I am well aware as to what is wrong with our current health care system. I agree wholeheartedly that it absolutely needs to be reformed!

EVERYONE should have health care. What is bothering most of us is...WHAT KIND OF HEALTH CARE WILL IT BE?

IT IS FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN THAT HAS EVERYONE UPSET!

What the uproar in the Townhall meetings is about is that that a bill has been prepared by God only knows who...and we wonder who has decided on the policies that will be in place that will affect our health care system. Who has been responsible for the 1000+ pages of the bill? Who provided the data/information that is in the bill? Was it the lawmakers or their staffers? We did not elect the staffers to do the work. We elected the lawmakers to do the work and it is apparent that they did not prepare the bill because most of them have admitted they have not even read it. How can they vote on a bill they have not read? This should be illegal.

We don't want a bill passed that has not been read/comprehended by our elected officials and then thoroughly explained to us before they vote.

Greta Van Susteren, a lawyer who has her own show on Fox News, has stated that she has tried to read the bill and that she finds it incomprehensible. Another man at a Townhall meeting stated that he took two weeks to try and read it and it reads like a foreign language. Other well educated people have taken a stab at it and finds that most of it is unintelligible to a normal person. This is wrong!

Obama is working overtime to "sell" us on this bill. Does anyone really believe that he has actually read the bill himself? We would buy into his rhetoric if we were convinced that he is not just giving us some "spin" about what is going to happen when the bill is passed.

Another thing...what is the rush about something so important? As someone said...his family took six months to decide on what kind of a dog they should pick. Surely, this health care bill is more important than picking out a dog.

If the Republicans were trying to ram this bill down our throats...the same thing would be happening at the Townhall meetings. This is not a Democratic problem. This is a problem of our current administration insulting our intelligence by thinking that we are going to "simply trust them" regarding this bill.

Over the years, most people have grown to question the motives of any politician. Some people simply swallow what they are told and do not question things that raise red flags. This health care bill has raised tons of red flags.

I am all for health care reform but it needs to be reformed in such a way that it does not deteriorate in quality, timeliness, and cost...and so far they have not convinced the average American that this will happen.

ATTENTION LAWMAKERS: READ THE BILL AND TELL US WHAT IT SAYS IN DETAIL AND THEN WE MIGHT BE READY FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM. We do not want to wind up with a Canadian type of health care system.

August 13, 2009 - ARE THEY TRYING TO TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

Are they trying to shut down our right to protest?

The following is a townhall.com article written by David Limbaugh:

President Barack Obama apparently came to believe the myth of his messiahship and has accordingly abused and squandered his good will and political capital and possibly self-sabotaged his socialized medicine scheme.

Of all the newsworthy aspects of this desperate "reform" effort, none is more so than the robust democratic processes it has reinvigorated in this nation. While Democrats insist the nationwide grass-roots movement against his Draconian measure is contrived and illusory, it is just the opposite.

Nothing could be so real as the American people, emboldened by their passion for liberty, standing up against a callous, dishonest government trolling for its freedoms in exchange for false promises.

All the proof we need that Obama and Democrats recognize the authenticity of this grass-roots protest is their hysterical reaction to it. They wouldn't be hyperventilating about it if they believed it to be fake, but would use their super-majorities to ram through this bill.

Indeed, that congressmen have not been able or courageous enough (against the threat of being removed from office in 2010) to pass this bill is the story of the year. Integral to that story is the unraveling of the Obama mystique, occasioned by Obama's ongoing arrogance and duplicity, most recently on the Obamacare issue.

Let's just look at some of the myriad ways Obama has betrayed the enormous trust bestowed upon him -- on the health care issue alone.

Obama has said he just wants a dialogue with the American people on health care. Sorry, but there are just so many times a person can say the exact opposite of what he means and retain a shred of credibility. While saying he wants this dialogue, he's also telling his opponents to shut up -- literally. Even more revealing, he was adamant that this bill be passed before the August recess -- a bill whose provisions he admitted or pretended he was not familiar with. How could there have been a dialogue if he had already made up his mind and if the deadline he had artificially imposed could not possibly have allowed a dialogue?

Obama has said his opponents were trying to "scare and mislead the American people," when in fact his opponents are the American people whom he is trying to scare and mislead.
Obama misleads us concerning the public option, saying people can keep their private plans if they prefer. Yet the House bill, which he was urging be passed before the August recess, effectively would coerce employers, through punitive and positive incentives, to dump their private plans in favor of the public option. Most Americans have employer-provided health insurance, so a wholesale exodus to the public option would be inevitable -- and intended. In fact, the bill would prevent those who lose private coverage from reacquiring it, except plans conforming to a slew of new mandated regulations, which eventually would drive such plans out of existence. Obama's propagandette, Linda Douglass, falsely denied that Obama said he supports the public option, but he's on tape.

Obama misleads us in his inartful attempt to analogize the postal industry with his health plan, saying privately run FedEx and UPS have fared well against the government-run Postal Service. He fails to tell us how different the public/private competitive environment would be under his health care plan with the deck stacked -- by law -- against the survival of private insurers and private care.

Obama misleads us by denying that bureaucrats would "meddle" in our health care decisions or with the doctor-patient relationship. Yet in almost the same breath, he boasts that he would bundle payments to doctors based on the quality, not the quantity, of the services they provide -- such quality to be determined by his bureaucratic boards. The House bill is replete with provisions conferring such decisions on government bureaucrats.

Obama misleads us when he and his minions cavalierly dismiss the public's genuine concern about the government, under his plan, insinuating itself into end-of-life decisions. Instead of responding to provisions of the bill legitimately generating such concerns, he puts words into our mouths, saying we claim that the bill would require "euthanasia." Even some of Obama's state-run media fact checkers suggested that Reps. Thaddeus McCotter and John Boehner made that claim. In fact, they said provisions of the bill "could create ... a more permissive environment for euthanasia ... and physician-assisted suicide." Someone needs to check the fact checkers.

Of course there are legitimate concerns here, and it insults our intelligence to suggest otherwise. The bill would immediately impose a monumental conflict of interest on government bureaucrats by tasking them to cut costs drastically while simultaneously empowering them to "counsel" people about their end-of-life (and other) medical care. Such a conflict of interest -- over life and death itself -- is unconscionable and unthinkable in the United States of America.
The "messiah" has lost his mojo -- by betraying his unearned trust with the people.

Audrey note: What frustrates me is that Obama's team is trying to ram a bill down our throats that they don't even understand themselves. Greta Van Susteren is a lawyer and states that she cannot truly understand it. An ordinary citizen at one of the townhall meetings states that he took two weeks to read it and it reads like a Russian novel, and he does not speak Russian. I would venture to guess that President Obama has not read it. It should be illegal for them to vote on any bill that is not thoroughly understood. There is no telling what might be lurking in one of these bills.

August 10, 2009 - IT WAS TRUE IN 1931 AND IT IS STILL TRUE TODAY

I received this as an email and feel that it is a good one to post:

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for---- that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

August 9, 2009 - WHO DO YOU TRUST? by Bill O'Reilly

The current civil war in America is really an uncivil debate about whether or not to trust the federal government. Policy aside, fundamental beliefs are separating Americans into two intense camps.

On the left sits the give hope a chance crew, which supports the dramatic increase in government influence and spending. These pro-Obama citizens believe that the president can right economic and social wrongs by dramatically expanding federal power.

Cruising on the right are those suspicious of increasing federal power. These folks generally believe President Obama is, indeed, an agent of hope: He hopes the nation will embrace a form of neo-socialism. Emotions are running high on both sides of the debate.

Polls show the nation is almost evenly divided when it comes to Obama's vision for the country. A Rasmussen poll this week has the president's approval rating at 49 percent, while 51 percent disapprove. That's even when the margin of error factor kicks in.

We are a country at odds. Just six months ago, the president's approval rating approached 70 percent as the nation looked forward to better times under a young, dynamic leader. But that was then.

Now, there is chaos in the air. The massive spending the Democrats have championed has unsettled many who understand that foreign lenders, in particular the Chinese, are becoming a lifeline for America. If these people pull out, disaster drives in. With bankruptcy looming in California, it is not far-fetched to see the federal government drowning in debt, as well.

Also, few understand Obama's health care vision, and he has not been able to explain it effectively. Most human beings value security. Are you feeling secure these days?

But it is the trust factor that has really frayed tempers. Conservative Americans, almost 40 percent of the population, are outraged at Obama's expansionist policies. The right simply does not trust the president and probably never will.

Liberals, about 20 percent of the folks, are standing by their man. They want a huge federal presence to dictate who gets what in health care, and they love the income redistribution strategy in general. In Obama, the hopes of the committed left are being realized.

But it is the other 40 percent of Americans, mainly independents, who are losing hope and fairly quickly. Most Americans are not hard-core ideologues and are willing to give any new president a chance. But with the recession still causing massive pain and a president who increasingly seems unsure of himself, the independent folks are getting nervous.

Since last January, there certainly has been plenty of change. But, as the polls prove, fewer and fewer folks are believing in it.

August 7, 2009 - IF YOU ARE NOT SICK, BE THANKFUL

If you are not sick...be thankful.

I have started back to doing medical transcribing and I am telling you that there are a lot of very sick people in this world.

I type discharge summaries for one of the local hospitals and I will assure you that there are a lot of people who have to go into the hospital for treatment. When they leave, sometimes they are still very sick and they go home to simply survive until the next hospitalization. It's sad.

I have a bad medical history myself but I am thankful that I am able to go full steam ahead. When you are sick, the whole world revolves around your sickness and you cannot enjoy life to the fullest.

Don't take good health for granted.

August 4, 2009 - WHO ARE THE REAL HEROES IN YOUR LIFE?

I am "copying and pasting" an email from a friend and goes as follows. This friend is a policeman and has served time in the military. He volunteers for some community activities.

Most young people idolize sport athletic players, they buy clothes with their name on it, they saturate their minds with any thing that identifies with that sports figure. But in-reality those athletes don't even know that young fan wearing their jerseys, and would not take time out of their busy schedules to sit down and have a conversation one on one with the person.

Sure the athletes do entertain by playing in sport games but really, what do they actually contribute to society. I preached to the children, "Don't make athletes hero's because you will probably never get the time of day from them, the athletes are all about money."

Instead look at the people you see every day and study them, look at things you like about them, model your self after those real people, not Sport figures. I gave good examples of local leaders, military people, preachers and teachers, etc.

I tell you one person who came to my mind was a bank president who stopped to check on my broken down 1980 Dodge compact car on a busy hwy outside Anderson, Alabama. He stopped, picked me and my family up, took us to an auto parts store, then drove me back to my car and stayed till I got it going. He took about one and half hour out of his trip home after all day of hunting. I never knew that he was a bank president until afterwards when I was fixing to drive off, that's when I asked him his name and he gave me his business card.

I wrote him a message saying that they didn't out medals for doing good deeds but if they did, he would have a chest full. That is all for now Ms. Audrey, again take care, Bye for now, Tom

Note from Audrey: Thanks for today's posting Tom! I agree with you totally.

August 3, 2009 - SETTING GOALS IN LIFE

As a "people watcher" I am always amazed at the differences in people as they set goals in life and what results they expect from their efforts.

Some people set goals as follows:

Equation: Amount of Effort/Goal setting = Amount of Reward in Life/Success/Failure

  1. I don't like to set goals because I like to "fly by the seat of my pants." Result: Poverty
  2. I want to do what I want to do and don't want anyone to tell me what to do. Result: Very little/Poverty
  3. I want to do as little as possible but obtain a lot. Result: Very little/Poverty
  4. I am willing to do a little but expect to reap a lot in return. Result: Very little/Poverty
  5. I am willing to do my share but no more. Result: Average.
  6. I am willing to do my share but willing to go the extra mile. Result: Better than average.
  7. I am willing to do more than my share no matter how hard the effort: Very successful.

Some of you who are reading this will say, "This is such a simple deduction, everyone should know this principle in life."

No...everyone does not comprehend these simple principles and think that the successful people are simply "lucky" and do not realize how much effort that has been put forth to gain their success.

August 1, 2009 - TOUCHING HEARTS

I cannot think of any profession that puts a person in the position to really "touch hearts" better than being a teacher. While a pastor/preacher/priest certainly touches hearts, but only has the opportunity to do so for a few hours a week, a teacher has a lot more time to "touch hearts."

A teacher can either make or break a child, whether for the better or worse, to inspire/discourage them regarding their education or positively/negatively impacting their self-esteem and outlook on life.

My daughter is a fourth grade teacher, just voted "Teacher Of The Year," and is getting ready for school to start again. When discussing her assigned class with the administration of her school, she was told, "We wanted these children to be in a class where the teacher could touch their hearts; therefore, we chose a teacher that has touched our hearts."

Now...that is making a difference in life!
